Filed a complaint on their website about two cats that have been destroying the outside of my house and refuses to leave ( assume the previous owner lived here). Was emailed and asked if I could contain the cat...( if I could I wouldn't be contacting them) and when I told told them I'd rather not because of me not being good with animals I got no response. So I called the next day and dispatcher was rude and short. When I asked if anyone was coming out she bluntly said No. Then I asked who should I call she just basically said no one because they won't pick up wandering cats. So what the hell is animal control for? Do I have to wait till I'm bitten or scratched? Then she suggested I put out coffee grounds to keep the cat away. Useless and rude.

  • It was my first time at an animal shelter. I am looking for a puppy. They had a few, but there were mostly american Terriers (Pits) I grew up around pitbulls and they are the some of the sweetest dogs I've had the pleasure of being around. It hurt my heart to see so many without a home. Besides that The staff was friendly told me where to go. Alot of them greeted me. Very clean facility, besides the obvious animal smell which was expected. One of the guys even helped me jump start my car. I didn't find what I was looking for ,but I'm going to buy a new battery lol.

  • Sometimes you'll speak with someone nice and upbeat, and sometimes you'll have someone who is blunt and short. You're not there to make friends with the front desk; you're there to look, find, bond, and adopt a pet. There's a stench and odor throughout but it's expected at any pound or shelter. Ear plugs are complimentary if you can't handle the excessive dogs barking as well as numerous sanitation stations. Don't forget that half the people working there are actually volunteers and there's still not enough. You'll see dogs that poop and pee in their kennel and it's normal because the shelter is understaffed and volunteers do what they can but there are 80+ pets and you can't expect them to get their normal walk, exercise, and outside breaks. It can be difficult to find someone to help you with your interest in a particular pet but just ask a volunteer or go to the front desk and let them know. If you think your overall experience at CCAC is bad then visit Fulton County Animal Shelter before making your final conclusion. You'll realize how much more organized and cleaner CCAC is. Cobb County Animal Control is by far the best pound in/out/around the city; visit the other county shelters if you don't think so.

My Yorkshire Terrier, which I paid $1100 for, was stolen on a holiday (Thanksgiving) and luckily found at the start of January by Cobb County Animal Control. If you invest money in an animal, please make sure you obtain paperwork with a photograph of the animal and take plenty pictures of the animal so you can PROVE that is your animal. Otherwise, they will put people who want it on a waiting list and then give it away to them (a Sue, Tom, or Harry who possibly have ill intentions for your animal- bred it out to make money). The waiting list may be full, and you will not HAVE A CHANCE to get YOUR dog back. I was unable to provide a photo copy of my dog and was reliant on the person I bought it from to provide me with baby pictures for not only my "LOST DOG" flier I created, but as documenting proof this dog was mine. This was not enough for the Cobb County Animal Shelter. They assumed I was falsifying information because the baby picture "did not match" and showed white on the chin, whereas the Yorkie they had behind bars did not. I had no choice but to give up. Why did I not have pictures? I received a new phone for Christmas, and after only having the dog about 2 weeks, all my pictures were on my old phone, and since I thought my baby, Samahura (my Yorkie whose name I was told meant "Lovely" in Sanskrit) was stolen or dead (they are so small and could easily have been eaten by a larger animal) I decided to transfer my phone to another family member that needed it, and of course, they did not keep any of my files. The seller did not do a good job of paperwork and was unable to give me the correct picture (did not speak good English, so just getting the Bill of Sale was a task). Also, immediately file a missing report through THEIR website, even if it looks hopeless. Because you do not want to end up like me. Worried about how the new owner, who probably didn't pay more than $50 for the animal, will treat your baby. Maybe if I wouldn't have dressed in my sweats and more like a former professional basketball player's wife (he bought me the dog), they wouldn't have judged me and assumed Sam was not my dog. They almost had me believing she wasn't my dog because of their "animal specialist!"
